First responders fielded a number of calls Thursday night for downed trees and wires, including a tree that fell on top of a vehicle while it was being driven on Chicora Road.
Chicora Volunteer Fire Department Chief Cody Craig said the incident happened about 11:15 p.m. on Chicora Road at Kittanning Pike in Fairview Township.
“A large tree fell on top of a car and went through the windshiled,” Craig said. “One woman was trapped inside.”
Firefighters removed the tree and got the woman out of the vehicle.
“She was very fortunate,” he said. “It could have been a lot worse.”
Craig said the woman received minor injuries and was shaken up, but did not get taken to the hospital.
