WPIAL Playoff match-ups were set last night.
Boys Basketball:
–Defending 6A champion Butler is the #5 seed in the classification, ahead of rivals Pine-Richland and North Allegheny. The Golden Tornado will host Norwin next Tuesday at 6pm in the First Round.
–Also Tuesday at 6pm: Seneca Valley will visit Mt. Lebanon.
–North Allegheny will host Central Catholic
–Pine-Richland will host Peters Township.
In 5A: Mars will host the winner of a preliminary game between Armstrong & Franklin Regional Wednesday.
In the 4A Preliminary Round:
–Knoch will host Yough Monday at 6pm.
–Freeport will visit Blackhawk.
–North Catholic will get the winner of the Hopewell-Mt. Pleasant prelim game next Thursday.
In the Girls Brackets:
–Butler will host Hempfield in the 6A First Round next Wednesday at 6pm.
–Seneca Valley will visit Mt. Lebanon also on Wednesday. –Pine-Richland will travel to Peters Township Tuesday.
–North Allegheny received a First Round bye.
In the 5A Preliminary Round – Mars will host Gateway Monday at 6pm.
In 4A:
–Knoch will host Hopewell Tuesday at 6pm.
–Freeport will host Mt. Pleasant Tuesday also at 6pm.
–In Class 3A – Next Wednesday – North Catholic will host the winner of a preliminary round game between Steel Valley & Brownsville.
Last night:
— the Knoch Boys defeated Derry 69-53. Ryan Lang led the Knights with 21 points.
–The North Catholic Boys defeated Mt. Lebanon 63-50.
–The Mars Girls defeated Indiana 51-38. Ava Black led Mars with 24. Olivia Donnelly added 21.
In District 10:
–The Slippery Rock Boys fell to Franklin 73-40.
–Grove City defeated Wilmington 59-29.
–The Slippery Rock Girls defeated Franklin 63-19.
In District 9 – The AC Valley Boys defeated Venango Catholic 82-41.
