A local funeral home is acquiring another longtime Butler funeral home.
According to a release sent out Thursday afternoon, Martin Funeral Home has reached an agreement to acquire Geibel Funeral Home.
Martin Funeral Home was established in 1982 on Center Avenue by current owner Tom Martin’s father Ross. Geibel Funeral Home on East Cunningham Street was started in 1919 by the great-great uncle of current operator Chad Geibel who plans to join his son in his excavating business.
All pre-arranged and pre-paid accounts that families established with Geibel Funeral Home remain intact and will be fully honored by Martin Funeral Home.
Tom Martin said both locations will be open if anyone has questions.
