Gas prices decreased both locally as well as across the western Pennsylvania region as a whole over the past week.
According to AAA’s weekly gas price report, the average price for a gallon of regular, unleaded, self-serve gas in Butler, as of yesterday, dropped by six cents to settle at $4.08 per gallon.
The average gas price across western Pennsylvania as a whole decreased by a nickel to reach $4.14. The most affordable average price for gas in the area can be found in Brookville at $3.86, while the most expensive is in Warren at $4.30.
The average national gas price dropped by eight cents over the past week to $4.04 which is 13 cents higher than last month and 89 cents more than a year ago. This is attributed to regional tensions delaying traffic moving through the Strait of Hormuz. Gasoline demand rose last week while the price of oil remained mostly even at just over $91 a barrel.
