Grove City high school wrestler Chase Karenbauer won a national championship with an 8-5 win over reigning world champion Keegan Bassett Sunday to win the U.S. Open 17U title. He swept a best-of-three championship final, adding an 11-9 win over Bassett in the first mat match.
Karenbauer will represent the United States at the World Championships later this year. Karenbauer had won a Pennsylvania state championship earlier this year.
