A Mercer County man is in prison after he allegedly raped a woman last year.
In March, the victim reported to police that 30-year-old Michael Kirchell of Stoneboro hit her in the head after a verbal argument in February of 2025. A neighbor called the police after this incident but no criminal action was taken.
Police say there was another incident happened last June when Kirchell allegedly pushed the victim to the ground and started choking her.
The rape allegedly happened this past winter according to the charging documents.
Kirchell has been charged with rape, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, strangulation, and simple assault. His bail was set at $100,000 and a preliminary hearing has been scheduled for May 13.
