The Moniteau baseball team defeated Curwensville 5-3 last night in the District 9 Class 2A semifinals in DuBois. Dawson Cook pitched a complete-game, striking out 11. Among the strikeouts during the game, Cook set the all-time Warriors strikeout mark. He now has 254 K’s in his career.
The Warriors will meet Redbank Valley for the District 9 title Monday at 11am, also in DuBois. Redbank Valley defeated Kane 2-1 in the other semifinal. Redbank is the defending three-time champion in District 9 .
The North Catholic girls softball team fell 13-4 to Blackhawk Thursday in the Class 4A WPIAL semifinals. The Trojanettes will meet Hampton in a consolation game next week.
The Slippery Rock softball team fell 12-2 in five innings to Harbor Creek in the District 10 Class 4A semifinals.
