Local residents could soon see an improved water treatment system as a result of plans recommended for approval by the Butler Township Planning Commission Tuesday night.
Representatives of PA American Water provided information about an Ultraviolet Disinfection building planned for the Litman Road property.
This two-story block building would replace two large open tanks that utilize more dangerous chlorine gas as part of the disinfection process.
This plan will next move to the Butler Township Commissioners for final approval later this month and if all permits are in order, the project will begin later this year with an unknown timeline for completion.
