Newly promoted third base prospect Murf Gray hit a grand slam in the first inning yesterday afternoon for the Altoona Curve. He was joined by another top prospect, in Lonnie White, in hitting home runs in Altoona’s 8-7 win over Akron. Gray, the 73rd overall pick by the Pirates in the 2025 MLB Draft out of Fresno State, was promoted to the Double-A Curve over the All-Star break after tearing the two lower levels of the Pirates farm system. The Curve hit four home runs in Tuesday’s game.
For Single-A Bradenton Tuesday, Spencer Horwitz had a single, two walks and a stolen base in his first rehab start as he returns from a hamstring injury.
