The Pittsburgh Pirates – New York Yankees game last night was postponed due to rain, so the two teams will play a doubleheader today. Game 1 will begin at 1:05pm. WISR pre-game begins at 12:40pm. Game 2 will be played later tonight at 7:05pm. Pre-game on WISR begins at 6:40pm.
Mitch Keller will start Game 1 for the Bucs, against former Pirate Gerrit Cole. Keller is 6-7 with a 5.14 ERA this season. Cole is 3-5 with a 3.93 ERA.
Game 2 starters will be Bubba Chandler for the Pirates. Max Fried goes to the mound for the Yankees.
The Pirates are off tomorrow and return home to host a six-game homestand, with the first three games against the Chicago Cubs beginning Friday night.
After tomorrow’s day off, the Bucs will have 17 games over a 17 day span through the trade deadline. Entering today’s games, the Pirates are tied with Arizona for the final National League Wild Card spot. The Diamondbacks come to Pittsburgh for a three-game series beginning Monday. The Pirates then have four games each in Cincinnati and Milwaukee to complete the month of July and open August.
