Gas prices have edged up both locally as well as across the western Pennsylvania region as a whole over the past week.
According to AAA’s weekly gas prices report, the average price for a gallon of regular, unleaded, self-serve gas in Butler, as of yesterday, increased by two cents to reach $4.32 per gallon.
The average gas price across western Pennsylvania as a whole rose by a nickel to reach $4.26. The most affordable average price for gas in the area can be found in Brookville at $4.01, while the most expensive is in Uniontown at $4.38.
The average national gas price dropped by two cents over the past week to reach $4.09 which is still nearly a dollar more than last year. Gasoline demand increased last week, and the price of oil also increased to over $84 a barrel due to instability in the Middle East.
