New funding is available in the state budget that will go toward helping solve cold cases.
The new Violent Incident Clearance and Technological Investigative Methods Program, also known as the VICTIM program, will set aside $2.5 million to help local police with cold cases, homicides, and other violent crimes.
There is also a $1 million match from the Arnold Ventures.
Local police departments can apply for the grant funding through the state’s Commission on Crime and Delinquency.
