Pennsylvania is now experiencing the largest measles outbreak in 35 years according to Governor Josh Shapiro, who announced two additional deaths.
Tuesday afternoon, the governor announced that a total of four people have died from complications associated with measles. These numbers are not final until an autopsy confirms the cause of death.
Shapiro also took that opportunity to call for Department of Health Secretary of Robert Kennedy Jr. to “stop stoking vaccine skepticism and misinformation and compromising the serious mission of the nation’s public health agencies.”
Shapiro also accused Kennedy of directing the CDC to “not report these Pennsylvania (measles) deaths.”
Health officials advise everyone over the age six to be fully vaccinated with both doses to drastically reduce chances of hospitalization. More information can be found online through the state website’s Measles Dashboard.
