Spotted lanternflies have started to lay eggs, but everyone can do their part to help stop the spread of the invasive species.
Although the lanternflies present no danger to humans and pets, the invasive pest can damage crops such as grapes and apples.
The egg laying season begins in September and continues until November and then hatch in July.
They can be found at various locations such as tree trunks, rocks, vehicles, outdoor furniture, and trailers. If you find a grayish-brown mud like egg mass you’re advised to scrape it off the surface and place into a bag with rubbing alcohol or hand sanitizer to kill the eggs.
