A bill that would recognize 911 dispatchers as first responders is set to become law.
The bill passed both the House and Senate this week and now heads to the governor’s desk.
The bill would add 911 telecommunicators, including both call takers and dispatchers, to the state’s legal definition of “emergency responders.”
Supporters of the law say the designation is to better recognize their critical role and to help them access better health benefits.
