An Allegheny County man has been charged after fleeing from police in a vehicle and on foot in Slippery Rock this weekend.
The incident happened on Sunday on North Main Street when a vehicle driven by 19-year-old Teal Gamblin accelerated at a group of people crossing the street and honked its horn.
An officer nearby was able to get the vehicle’s license plate before initiating a traffic stop. Once the officer began the stop, Gamblin allegedly took off, driving into the opposite lane of traffic and speeding away.
The pursuit ended after Gamblin drove into a yard and attempted to flee on foot before being taken into custody. According to police Gamblin had alcohol and drug paraphilia in his possession.
Gamblin is facing several driving charges as well as a DUI, fleeing or attempting to elude an officer, and evading arrest on foot.
He was placed in the Butler County Prison and bail was set at $30,000.
A preliminary hearing was scheduled for November 11.
