Baseball:
–Freeport fell to South Park 4-1 last night in the Class 3A WPIAL quarterfinals. The loss was just the second of the year for the Yellow Jackets, but ends their season.
Tonight:
–Butler will meet Norwin in the Class 6A semifinals. Game time is set for 4pm at North Hills high school.
The Moniteau baseball team has reached the District 9 Class 2A semifinals after they defeated Smethport 10-2 last night in a semifinal game played at Slippery Rock University’s Jack Critchfield Park. Dawson Cook and Kayne Scott combined on two-hitter for the Warriors. Moniteau will meet Curwensville Thursday in DuBois at 6:30pm in the semifinals.
The Slippery Rock baseball season came to a close in the District 10 Class 4A quarterfinals. The Rockets fell to Harbor Creek 1-0 last evening in Meadville. Isaac McCandless pitched a complete-game for the Rockets. He allowed just the one run on five hits. He did not walk a batter and struck out six.
In a game that saw 11 runs scored in the sixth inning, Hickory outlasted Grove City 11-10, also in the Class 4A quarterfinals.
