A Butler man has been charged with animal cruelty after one dog was found dead and a second living in deplorable conditions in Butler Township.
Last Friday, officers were called to a home on the 100 block of Arlington Avenue for a dog that died while living in deplorable conditions.
Officers secured a search warrant at the home of 49-year-old Eric Dobson, and then went inside the home and found a German Sheppard that was so thin his backbone and rib cage were visible. Upstairs in the home was a dead dog that was malnourished and face was mangled.
According to charging documents, the home was covered in feces, trash, and had no water for the dogs. Dobson told police that due to back taxes and nursing home bills he did not have the necessary time to care for the home and dogs.
Dobson was charged with two counts of animal cruelty and is awaiting a preliminary hearing.
