The Pennsylvania Commonwealth Court ruled that a state ban on Medicaid coverage for most instances of abortions is unconstitutional.
The court ruled 4-3 on the decision.
Governor Josh Shapiro supported the decision, saying he’s “long opposed this unconstitutional ban.”
Those against the ruling say the it is in direct contradiction to the 1982 Abortion Control Act, which says state tax dollars could not pay for abortions.
It’s expected that the ruling will be appealed to the State Supreme Court.
