As lawmakers get back to work in Harrisburg, a hot topic has been data center legislation.
House and Senate members have both introduced legislation that would provide more regulations for data centers.
One house legislation would allow local governments to implement an impact fee for large data centers.
One Senate bill will require meetings, complete development plans, letters requesting service for utilities, and show available infrastructure at full build not a phased approach. Another requires an independent state recognized engineering firm to prepare a water analysis and study.
The largest piece of legislation is the Data Center Accountability and Community Protection Package. It includes six pieces of legislation that provide stricter and comprehensive guild lines for building a data center.
All of these bills have been formally introduced.
