With rain in the forecast today, the area’s dry stretch of weather is coming to an end.
According to the National Weather Service, the Pittsburgh region received no measurable amount of rain for 15 days.
The longest recorded stretch of dry weather for Pittsburgh was in 1874, when the area went 26 days without rain. 1995 was the second-longest stretch at 25 days, which came to an end in early September.
Even though the backend of October saw no rain, the storm that hit in mid-October gave the region enough precipitation that we were above average for the month.
