The Edmonton Oilers defeated the Dallas Stars 6-3 last night and have reached the Stanley Cup Final for the second straight season. The Oilers clinched the Western Conference championship and will meet the defending Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers in the best-of-seven series beginning next Wednesday. It is the 12th rematch in Stanley Cup playoff history, but first since 2009 when the Pittsburgh Penguins faced the Detroit Red Wings.
The New York Knicks defeated the Indiana Pacers 111-94 last night to hold off elimination in the NBA Eastern Conference Finals. The Pacers still lead the series 3-2. Indiana will host Game 6 Saturday night. If a Game 7 is necessary, the series will end in New York Monday night.
