Five people are behind bars after being accused of stealing back packs from a department store in Center Township.
On Tuesday officers were called to the Boscov’s located at the Clearview Mall for one person being held for retail theft.
Police say five people were involved in the theft: 44-year-old Shannan Hicks, 43-year-old Carrie Miller, 29-year-old Jordan Watts, 29-year-old Katilyn Dennis, and 25-year-old Elaine Corbin-Mason, all of Nanty Glo, Pennsylvania.
According to charging documents, the thieves allegedly stole over $1,300 in items by having Watts distract a store employee. Once they left the store, they got in a getaway car driven by Corbin-Mason.
Watts allegedly admitted to the thefts, shared the names of accomplices, and told police about previous thefts. The other four would later return to the store and be taken into custody.
All five people have been charged with at least one count of felony retail theft and have all been placed in the Butler County Prison for varying amounts.
A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for July 21.
