Students in a local school club were honored at a statewide competition last month.
Nearly 50 Butler High School Latin students traveled to Penn State over the Memorial Day weekend to compete in the 64th annual PA Junior Classical League Convention where they won second place overall.
Students competed in athletic, academic and creative arts competitions, while also celebrating all things in classical culture.
The Butler Junior Classical League has attended this convention since 2001 and is open to any of the 350 students at Butler in grades 9 through 12 currently studying Latin. Starting next year, Latin will be offered to Butler students beginning in the 8th grade.
