A local student is among the 27 winners announced in a statewide art contest.
Landon Pinkerton placed second in the fifth and sixth grade category of the PA Departments of Health, Environmental Protection, and Conservation and Natural Resources “Protect. Check. Remove.” Lyme Disease Student Art Competition.
The goal of the contest is to raise awareness about this disease since ticks are very common across the state. Over 230 submissions focused on where ticks are found, how to prevent tick bites, and the symptoms of Lyme disease.
Winners received an invitation to an award ceremony last week in Harrisburg. Winning entries will be on display in the state Capitol Building near the Senate Fountain area and cafeteria through the end of this month.
