A Delmont man is facing charges for receiving payment to complete a fence project at a Middlesex Township home and then never starting.
On Tuesday police charged 43-year-old Jesse Mengel of Spring Valley Fencing Company for agreeing to a verbal contract to complete a 196 feet fencing project, but he never started the work.
According to charging documents, the entire cost of the project was estimated at $36,637 and the victim paid Mengel $15,000 a deposit in March. The victim attempted to contact Mengel three times and received no responses.
After requesting his money back and not hearing back from Mengel in July, the victim contacted an attorney, who sent a letter of demand for refund for services not provided.
Mengel has been charged with deceptive business practices and receiving advance payment for services and failure to complete.
A preliminary hearing date has not been set.
