A new bill has been proposed that would change how unemployment compensation works in Pennsylvania.
A group of legislators, including State Representative Aaron Bernstine, introduced two bills that they say will make the state’s Unemployment Compensation Trust Fund solvent.
The first bill would tie the length of unemployment compensation to the state’s unemployment rate. If the rate is low, those filing would not be able to extend their claims.
The second bill would adjust the benefits paid to seasonal workers to bring them in line with year-round workers who are laid off.
