In High School boys basketball aired on the Butler Radio Network Tuesday:
–The North Catholic boys basketball team avenged an earlier section loss and defeated Knoch 61-55 last night in Saxonburg. It was the first section loss of the season for the Knights, who complete their section play Friday night on the road to Freeport. The Trojans visit Deer Lakes. If both teams win Friday, they will share the Class 4A Section 1 title.
Last night’s game featured seven ties and seven lead changes. Jason Fredericks led North Catholic with 26 points. Teegan Finucan led Knoch with 21.
The WPIAL will announce playoff pairings Monday.
The Butler boys saw their playoff hopes slip away after a 58-55 loss in overtime to Pine-Richland. With the victory, the Rams clinched a playoff spot in the very tough Class 6A Section 1.
