The New York Rangers have decided to allow the Pittsburgh Penguins to take their first-round selection in this week’s NHL draft. The conditional pick was part of a trade that sent Marcus Pettersson and Drew O’Connor to Vancouver. The Canucks had received the pick in a separate trade with the Rangers, and included it in the Penguins deal. The Rangers had the option of using the pick this season.
The Penguins will now have the 11th and 12th selections overall Friday when the draft begins at 7pm. The draft continues at noon Saturday.
