The Boston Bruins defeated the Pittsburgh Penguins 2-1 last night at PPG Paints Arena. The loss was just the third of the season for the Pens at home, and it snapped a six-game winning streak.
Evgeni Malkin left the game with a lower-body injury and Teddy Blueger did not play after suffering an upper-body injury that may keep him out of the lineup for a while.
During the game, winger Brandon Tanev was given a game misconduct for boarding a Boston player. Tanev scored the only Penguins goal last night in the first period.
The Pens visit the New Jersey Devils Thursday.
The Pens are now three points in front of the fourth-place Bruins. They trail the first-place Washington Capitals and New York Islanders by five points. The Caps have tied the Islanders after beating New York 3-1 last night.
