Pennsylvania Democrats are looking for full control in Harrisburg for the first time in over 30 years on the heels of the governor’s reelection bid.
Republicans currently control the state senate 27 to 23 while Democrats control the governor’s mansion and state house. Polls have Governor Josh Shapiro as a double-digit favorite against the Republican nominee Secretary Treasurer Stacy Garrity.
If Shapiro is reelected, Democrats preserve their control in the house, and flip three seats while keeping control of seats currently held they will for the first time in 31 years have a trifecta in Pennsylvania come January.
The seats to watch Tuesday night include the 6th, 16th, 24th, 36th, 40th, and 46th senate districts. If the night ends with a 25-25 tie and Lieutenant Governor Austin Davis is elected on Shapiro’s ballot it could be the most historic night in Pennsylvania politics in 31 years.
