The Butler County Sheriff is disputing a report that a deputy sheriff exchanged emails with the man who tried to assassinate President Donald Trump before the rally at the Farm Show.
An online publication called Meidas Touch released a report over the weekend saying that Thomas Crooks had exchanged emails a couple of days before the shooting with a woman who was a deputy sheriff in Butler County.
Sheriff Mike Slupe said in a statement that “unequivocally, it is not, was not a Butler County Sheriff’s deputy.” He went on to say “this is irresponsible reporting and fake.”
