The South Butler School Board will contract with a familiar company to perform lead and copper tests on their water.
By a vote of 7-1, the board has agreed to enter into an agreement with Gannett Fleming to test every faucet used by faculty, staff, and students at all their buildings at a cost not to exceed $20,230. Gannett Fleming is the company currently working with Butler Area School District on the water situation at Summit School.
South Butler is served by Pennsylvania American Water and that water is tested regularly to state standards as it is leaving the plant. To be safe and put minds at ease after incidents of contamination in neighboring areas, water will be tested inside all South Butler facilities.
The testing is expected to take place during a weekend in late May or early June.
