A Texas man is facing charges in Butler County after he attempted to steal then acquire a gun illegally in Summit Township.
On May 27, officers were called to a sportsman’s club on 200 block of Freeport Road for an attempted theft of a fire arm.
According to charging documents, 23-year-old Ricardo Vazquez-Corona of San Antonio, reached around a gun case while an employee was districted. After successfully taking the gun the employee noticed the gun was missing and pressed Vazquez-Corona.
The gun was then returned by Vazquez-Corona and he then offered to pay extra for the gun if he could take it without paperwork. When the employee declined to do that Vazquez-Corona left the store.
Police were able to connect Vazquez-Corona through security camera’s and his vehicles license plate.
He was charged with retail theft and is awaiting a preliminary arraignment.
