After East Stroudsburg’s upset overtime win over previously #3-ranked Kutztown over the weekend, the Slippery Rock University football team has now moved up a spot to #6 this week in the latest Division II coaches rankings.
Slippery Rock running back Jay Jay Jordan received yet another PSAC-West Player of the Week honor Monday. A week after being named the Special Teams Player of the Week, Jordan was named Offensive Player of the Week for the fourth time this season. Jordan rushed for 225 yards and two touchdowns in just shy of three quarters last Saturday in The Rock’s 48-14 win over Clarion. Jordan’s 21 rushing touchdowns in nine games this year tie the SRU single-season record that was set by LaMonte Coleman in 1994. His 25 total touchdowns this year are the most among all NCAA football players at any level.
Slippery Rock will host the Fighting Scots of Edinboro Saturday for their annual “Salute to Military/First Responders” game. It is also Senior Day. Kick-off is 4pm. (Hear the game on The Rock Station 97.7)
