Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker T.J. Watt has been named the AFC Defensive Player of the Week for his work in the Steelers season-opening win over Atlanta last Sunday. Watt had a pick-six and two sacks. It was the second time in his career he had both accomplishments of an interception and at least two sacks in a game. The first was in a Steelers win over Cleveland in September of 2017 when he was a rookie. Watt now has been named a Defensive Player of the Week nine times, a mark that ties three other players for the most player of the week honors in NFL history. The other three: Chris Doleman, Bruce Smith and Lawrence Taylor — all Hall of Famers.
The Steelers visit the New England Patriots this Sunday at 1pm. The Patriots are 4-1/2-point favorites.
