Starting pitcher Jared Jones will return from an arm injury that forced him to miss the 2025 season and will start tonight’s game with Minnesota. The Pirates are moving Carmen Mlodzinski into the bullpen.
Third baseman Nick Gonzales suffered a knee injury during last night’s loss to the Cubs. He was replaced by Tyler Callihan, who had been called up from Triple-A Indianapolis. Callihan and Jared Triolo had throwing errors in last night’s game.
Callihan was called up because rookie Konnor Griffin is dealing with “forearm soreness”. Griffin is considered day-to-day. The Pirates had to send outfielder Esmerlyn Valdez back to Indianapolis.
