Butler Area School District students will have a new sport option to participate in next spring.
At their meeting Monday night, school board members approved a motion to create girls varsity and junior varsity flag football teams at Butler.
Student surveys found a great interest for participation in the sport and a local youth team is already practicing.
The district will invest just over $18,000 for coaching staff salaries, supplies, officials, and transportation.
