With Paul Skenes scheduled to pitch again Sunday, Pirates pitcher Braxton Ashcraft has been named to the National League All-Star team as a replacement for Skenes. The duo become the first Pirates pitchers to both be named to the All-Star team since A.J. Burnett and Gerrit Cole in 2015. The only other time that has happened in Pirates history, was back in 1960 when Vernon Law and Bob Friend were named All-Stars. The 26-year-old Ashcraft is 9-3 with a 3.24 ERA and 122 strikeouts in 108 1/3 innings this season.
Ashcraft will be making his first career All-Star appearance in his first full year with the Pirates.
