The public is invited to enjoy a weekend on or near the water at a local park.
Moraine State Park is holding a “Pleasant Valley Paddle” on Saturday from 8 to 10:30 a.m. at the Pleasant Valley Non-Motorized Launch Area on the South Shore. The Park Naturalist will lead an easy exploration of this area and the wildlife that call it home. This entry-level event is for ages 12 and older with those under 18 to be accompanied by an adult. Participants can bring their own kayaks. A limited number of kayaks are available. Life jackets are required. Pre-registration is also required by visiting the DCNR Calendar of events website.
Then on Sunday from 9 a.m. to noon, a Family Fishing Day is planned at the 528 Bridge Boat Launch Area. Participants will be able to learn basic fishing skills like knot tying, casting, baiting, and removing a fish from a hook. No license is required and all equipment will be provided but adults must bring a child and children must bring an adult.
