A couple events are going on out at Moraine State Park today and tomorrow.
First, today from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. the Park Naturalist at Moraine will welcome participants who are interested in learning more about the owls here in the state. This Owl Prowl will begin with a short discussion at the Pleasant Valley Non-motorized Launch Area on the South Shore and will continue with a search for owls at the park. Those planning to attend should bring a flashlight and dress for the weather.
Then tomorrow (Thursday), from 4:30 to 7 p.m. park staff will lead a Porters Cove Paddle from the Boat Launch. Park staff will discuss the history of this area and lead a nature-based exploration of the tributaries of Lake Arthur which could include sightings of herons or kingfishers.
This beginners event is for ages 12 and older with those under 18 to be accompanied by an adult. Participants can bring their own kayaks. A limited number of kayaks are available. Life jackets are required. Visit the DCNR Calendar of Events website to reserve a spot or for more information.
