A Butler man has been accused of driving under the influence with his two children in the vehicle in Clearfield Township.
The incident occurred on June 20, when an officer on Herman rOAD initiated a traffic stop after seeing a car swerve into the opposite lane.
According to charging documents, when the officer approached the vehicle driven by 41-year-old William McLay, he smelled alcohol coming from McLay’s breath. Inside the car were also McLay’s two minor children.
McLay allegedly told the officer he had been drinking “all day.” A blood test would later reveal McLay had a blood alcohol level of .20, two times over the legal limit.
McLay was charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of children and a DUI.
He’s awaiting a preliminary hearing.
