Late last week Governor Josh Shapiro signed several pieces of legislation into laws that will go into effect next year.
Several were minor changes to state laws, such as capping rental application fees at $20, requiring mandated reporters to report AI pornographic images, requiring AEDs on utility worksites, and defining dispatchers as first responders.
Some of the larger bills include increased penalties and fines for swatting attempts at schools or high education institutions, limiting the Gaming Commission to search private property without a warrant, and increasing the stopping distance requirement from 10 to 15 feet when school buses are stopped picking up children.
The most notable bills that were signed was former Gubernatorial Candidate Senator Doug Mastriano’s Beagle Bill which protects animals from product testing and authorizing mobile payments for small games of chance, which applies to fundraising efforts for charitable contributions.
