Pennsylvania American Water is again applying the money received from recent settlements to give bill credits to customers.
Companies that manufacture “forever chemicals” (Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances; PFAS) settled additional lawsuits with financial compensation to PA American Water, so the company issued a $7.10 bill credit to all active water customer accounts last month.
A total of nearly $44 in credits per account, or about 15 days of typical water service, has been dispersed from four PFAS-related settlements to date through Pennsylvania American Water’s PFAS Litigation Universal Credit Rider.
Pennsylvania American Water remains in compliance with all PFAS drinking water standards and plans to spend approximately $321 million in PFAS treatment projects across Pennsylvania through 2030.
