A new report by AAA finds that speeding is becoming more common.
The study found that 3 in 10 drivers agreed with the statement that “no one drives the speed limit.”
The study also found that people found it safer to go with the flow of traffic, opposed to going the speed limit.
The findings suggest many drivers aren’t speeding simply because they are running late.
Drivers’ top reasons for speeding:
- To get around slower drivers (31%)
- To reach their destination faster (25%)
- To avoid holding up traffic (21%)
Drivers’ top reasons to slow down:
- To avoid getting a ticket (79%)
- To avoid being involved in a crash (72%)
- Bad weather (60%)
AAA reminds drivers that speeding is still dangerous though, as it accounts for nearly 30 percent of fatal crashes.
