The Butler Transit Authority is moving forward with a plan that could result in changes to bus routes and schedules.
Although no immediate changes will be made to the local service, PennDOT has approved a three-year demonstration project based on the recommendations of a transit study.
PennDOT will pay for a transportation planning and engineering consultant to conduct another study that includes public outreach before the changes are finalized. This project will not affect commuter service offered by the Authority.
This project will also see the Authority purchase two 36-foot CNG Replacement Buses for local service from Gillig which involves an 18 to 24-month wait list.
