A Butler man has been placed in the Butler County Prison after he was found with Child Sexual Abuse Material.
After several online crime reporting sites identified an IP address uploading several videos of CSAM, reports were filed with State Police.
An investigation of the IP address led officers to the Center Township home of 79-year-old Richard Newell.
According to charging documents, when Newell spoke with police he admitted to being in possession of the material. When asked if he sent it to anyone else he said “probably.”
Newell was charged with 50 counts of child sexual abuse material, disseminating photos or film of child sex abuse, and criminal use of a communication facility.
His was able to post the $50,000 bond and had charges waived at a preliminary hearing for the court of common pleas yesterday.
