The Mars Area School District is continuing with work at the Elementary School while considering renovations and expansion of the Centennial School.
Representatives of Thomas and Williamson presented updates on both projects to the Mars School board at a Tuesday meeting.
The renovations and expansion that took place last month at the Mars Area Elementary school include pouring concrete footers, constructing walls and backfilling, as well as waterproofing foundations. Moving forward, site work will continue with sidewalks and paving along with additional footers and waterproofing.
As for the Centennial project, the board is expected to select an architect in the near future with site design beginning as soon as next month. Bids could be awarded in January with construction starting in April of 2027 and completed in June of 2028 at a cost of between $19 and $23 million.
