Today marks the 25th anniversary of 9/11.
Many local organizations will be honoring the victims of that day with events today. The Cranberry Township VFC will be playing Taps six times, marking when the four planes crashed and when the World Trade Centers fell.
The Butler County Sheriff’s Office and Sheriff Mike Slupe will attend the Mars Planet football game tonight to perform the ceremonial coin toss as well as meet with families and first responders.
The Flight 93 Memorial is also planning a number of ceremonies to remember the heroic acts of those on the plane that crashed in Somerset County.
Finally, Governor Josh Shapiro has ordered that all United States and Pennsylvania flags at all Commonwealth facilities, public buildings, and grounds across the state fly at half-staff today, in observance of Patriot Day and National Day of Service and Remembrance in honor of the individuals who lost their lives on September 11, 2001.
