Pennsylvania American Water is applying the money received from recent settlements to give bill credits to customers.
Companies that manufacture “forever chemicals” (Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances; PFAS) settled the suits with financial compensation to PA American Water so the company issued a $6.13 bill credit to all active water customer accounts last month.
A total of nearly $37 in credits per account has been dispersed from PFAS-related settlements to date through Pennsylvania American Water’s PFAS Litigation Universal Credit Rider.
Pennsylvania American Water remains in compliance with all PFAS drinking water standards and plans to spend approximately $321 million in PFAS treatment projects across Pennsylvania.
